What is a re-pin?

Re-pin is a term used on Pinterest to describe when someone saves or shares another user’s pin to their own board. When you “re-pin” something, you’re essentially reposting it, which helps spread the content further across the platform. Re-pinning allows users to collect and organize ideas, inspiration, or products they find interesting.

For example, if you’re planning a wedding and you see a pin for a beautiful bouquet that you like, you can “re-pin” it to your wedding inspiration board. This way, you can keep track of ideas you want to revisit later, while also sharing that content with your followers.

Re-pinning is one of the main ways content spreads on Pinterest, allowing users to build collections of pins based on themes or interests like fashion, home decor, recipes, or travel.

Here’s how to re-pin on Pinterest:

  • Browse through Pinterest to find a pin you want to re-pin. You can discover pins on your home feed, in search results, or by visiting other users’ profiles.
  • Once you find a pin that interests you, click on it to open the pin’s details page.
  • Look for a button labeled ‘Save’ at the top of the pin. This button might appear differently depending on whether you are using the desktop site or the mobile app.
  • After clicking ‘Save’, a menu will appear listing all your boards. Scroll through your boards and select the one to which you want to save the pin. If you want, you can also create a new board at this step by selecting “Create a board,” entering the board name, and clicking “Create.”
