What is a retweet (RT)?

A retweet (RT) is a feature on X (Twitter) that lets you share another user’s tweet with your own followers. When you retweet something, you’re just re-posting it on your timeline, giving the original tweet more visibility. Retweeting is a way to share content you find interesting, funny or important without having to write your own tweet.

For example, if you see a tweet with an article or opinion you agree with, you can retweet it so your followers see it too. You can retweet with or without a comment – if you want to add your own thoughts you can use the “Quote Tweet” option which lets you write a comment above the original tweet before sharing.

Retweets are a big part of Twitter’s viral nature, they help content spread fast across the platform. They’re a way to share news, start conversations, and engage with others.
