WhatsApp

What is WhatsApp? How do I download WhatsApp? What is WhatsApp used for?

WhatsApp is a cross-platform instant messaging application that allows users to exchange text messages, videos, images, locations, and other media files for free. Unlike basic messaging services, WhatsApp allows you to send unlimited messages, which is one of the primary reasons why it has skyrocketed in popularity over the past few years.

The application is typically used on mobile devices but it can also be accessed in the desktop version. It uses end-to-end encryption that is compatible with a variety of platforms, including iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows smartphones, and PCs.

Aside from saving you from paying any texting fees or having limitations on the number of messages you send, WhatsApp also has a quick delivery time that is very convenient for its users. In addition, it allows you to share media files like pictures, videos, GIFs, and audio clips without any extra charge.

This all-inclusive free message pack is very appealing to a wide audience due to its high functionality and affordability. Since the app is cross-platform, it also means that it can be used with different software packages, unlike regular SMS services.

Another unique feature that WhatsApp is widely popular for is that it places no character count limit on your messages. With regular phone texts, you are only allowed a certain number of words that you can send at a time. On the other hand, WhatsApp ensures that you can send an unlimited number of words with each message.

Moreover, while with standard SMS you usually only receive a delivery report (that you need to request), with WhatsApp you receive both a delivery report and an update on the current status of your message. This means that you’re allowed to see if the other party has viewed your message or not.

The origin of the platform’s name is a pun on the catchphrase “what’s up” and application. Since its launch in 2009, WhatsApp has become the world’s most popular messaging app, amassing an impressive client base of over 1.5 billion active users spanned across 180 countries.
