What is spamming?
Spamming means sending a bunch of unwanted or irrelevant messages, emails, or posts, usually to promote something or get attention. Spam is annoying because it clutters up inboxes, feeds, and messaging platforms with stuff people didn’t ask for. Businesses or individuals often do it, and it’s generally seen as disruptive or even unethical.
For example, if a company sends a ton of promotional emails to people who never signed up for them, or someone keeps posting the same comment on social media over and over, that’s spamming. Spam can also show up as random comments on blogs or direct messages that don’t relate to the topic but are trying to push something unrelated.
People usually don’t like spam, and platforms often take action, like banning accounts or flagging content that’s too spammy. For businesses, it’s best to follow good practices, like getting permission before sending marketing messages, to avoid being seen as spammy.
