What does "IB" mean?

IB stands for Inspired By, and it’s commonly used on social media platforms like TikTok or Instagram when someone recreates or references content from another user. It’s a way to give credit to the original creator whose idea or concept inspired your post.

IB (Inspired By)

Watch the video

For example, if someone makes a dance video that follows the same choreography as a popular TikTok creator, they might caption it with “IB: @username” to acknowledge that they were inspired by that person’s original video.

This term is important because it encourages proper crediting of ideas and content, which is a big deal in the social media world where trends spread quickly, and it’s easy for creators to feel like their work is being copied without acknowledgment.
