NPC meaning
An NPC (Non-Player Character) is a term from video games that refers to side characters in the game that are controlled by the computer, not the player. These characters often have scripted actions and dialogue and are usually there to help move the story along, give quests, or interact with the player in some limited way.Â
In online slang, NPC has taken on a new meaning, often used to describe someone who seems to lack authenticity and personality. It’s a way of saying someone is behaving like a background character, just going through the motions without much individuality.
On social media, NPC is sometimes used in memes to poke fun at people who seem to follow trends mindlessly or don’t seem to have original opinions.
